The Christmas Party

Thanks. That's about all I can say really, thanks for coming to the parites throughtout the year, thanks to the extra-special guests who've made each event so magical, and here's to doing it all again all through 2009! ;)

As a rule we don't talk about who's come to the parties or who's played at them, but here's a little exception - five months of the year saw sets from someone who effectively became our resident - namely Corsair's finest IDC - and as one of the many great reviews for his debut album "Overthrow The Boss Class" said "if you don't already know his material you should start now!"

We're not going to post any links to his tunes because you should buy them, but here's a great little mashy bootleg thing that totally tore the roof off the amazing ballroom at the party last week - it's The Prodigy's new track mixed with Boys Noize and I challenge any of you to spot the joins!

IDC - Invaders Must Dance (ysi link)

That's it. 2008 out, 2009 in. Let's hope it's a good one for one and all...

December here we are - plus Top Albums

Alrighteee, December Christmas Party is nearly upon us. Thanks for your support all through the year and we've got some big plans for 2009.

The more astute will realise that I only started this here blog for the "virtual" parties we want to do, but we've been a bit tardy about that and it's one of the things we'll be making sure happens next year.

Meantime we've got the Dec party to look forward to, no clues for bill, you'll just have to see what we've got for you ;)

AAAAnnnndddd, seeing as we've got a 'proper' blog and all, we asked you all to fill in a little bit of paper at last month's bash and one of the questions was your top albums of 2008, so in true bloggy style here's the results :

Poodle Party Punters 'best of' 2008

The Presets - Apocalypso
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
IDC - Overthrow The Boss Class
The Black Ghosts - The Black Ghosts
Arnaud Rebotini - Music Components
David Holmes - The Holy Pictures
Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
Eine Kleine Nacht Musik - Eine Kleine Nacht Musik
Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours

take it steady,
Sam

It's November already....

Yeah. Loads of things been happening, some of them related to that incident involving the green jelly at last months bash... thanks very much Chris!

Luckily the people we'd hired the place off for the night are kind of laid back and it shouldn't cause any real probelms - but we won't be back there I don't think!

Anyway, on to this month - you can leave a comment here if your email doesn't come through, or with any comments/ideas etc.

So how's about that, then?

LOTS of feedback form you lot about the September Party, and yes, we definitely WILL be returning to that particualr location another time - the fountains seem to have especially made quite a splash with everyone ;)

As always with a PPP it's really "all about the music" and, c'mon, wasn't that something special? We'll deffo be looking at getting those two back for a third time (they seemed to, erm, 'enjoy' themselves) and our newly elected resident seems to be a very popular choice...

So, alongside the Corsair Kid for this month's bash is a very special guest all the way from the USA... yes, really, THAT one! If you didn't pick up the hints from last month, you'll find out in the email/directions in a week.

Finally, as you'll have probably noticed, really the whole point of this blog is the "virtual" parties which have yet to get off the ground - we're really trying to make them as special as the "real" thing, so just keep on keepin' on and it'll all fall into place...

Next Poodle Parlour Party in the real world...

Thanks to all you PP regulars who have emailed in about the new Poodle Parlour International "virtual" parties - watch this blog for details of the first event's line-up to be announced soon.

In the meantime we thought we'd use the blog to update on the continuing "real world" parties as well. As before, they'll continue to be limited to email-invite only, with directions and details sent out two weeks before the event. They'll also continue to be on the last Thursday of the month until further notice...

For September, expect The Belgians to make a full-on return visit to the decks, and after the reaction from you lot to the July party the Boss Klass fella will be playing on a semi-regular basis over the next few events.

October's one might be of interest to any of you who were at the Easter bash.... say no more...

Poodle out...

So what is The Poodle Parlour?

The POODLE PARLOUR is the next stage in the development of a “secret” club night.

So far POODLE PARLOUR events have been “real”, taking place once a month at secret locations in the UK and featuring DJ sets from some of the most exciting current breakthrough DJs, as well as the kind of artists we probably couldn’t afford to go and dance to even if there were any tickets still available…

Now POODLE PARLOUR is going international with regular “virtual” club events.

It’s a new idea and here’s how it works - each POODLE PARLOUR features a line-up of DJs who make an exclusive mix set for that particular event, with each set ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. The sets are linked to through this site and stay active for A 24 HOUR PERIOD so that wherever you are in the world you can experience the POODLE PARLOUR at the right time in your own time zone.

The line-up is presented here in no order of importance, status or ego - you download the sets and choose your own running order.

The idea is the same as all POODLE PARLOUR events so far - you get to hear a set from your favourite DJs and get the chance to hear some other DJs that you might not have come across but are all linked in with the same ethos and spirit.

So spread the word, get involved and join the POODLE PARLOUR
